Ted In Korea's Poems

Suffering

Suffering

Consuming fires that destroy—

Greed can never be satisfied.

Anger so primal, explodes.

Foolishness, wisdom lack implied.

Natural character of life,

Given much, always wanting more.

Any slight brings retaliations,

Careless actions by the score.

Concentration on pureness,

Maintaining sheer serenity,

Immunity from attachment,

The path leads to tranquility.

Attachment

With fixation on self,

Craving only for more,

Endless passions mounting,

Desires to deplore.

Pursing impossibles,

Love slowly turns to lust,

Breeding more dissension,

Lack of faith and distrust.

Pride squelches honesty,

Sharing goes out the door,

Selfish acts recounted

As regrets by the score.

Solemn Stroll

Sauntering hand in hand; alone.

Each nursing their own private wound.

Searching for hope in just a word

No common ground e'er to be found.

Nearby herons poised fearless,

Lazily scan the brooding pair

Dragging the darkening gloom cloud

Gathering round everywhere.

Skirted in rushes and flower,

Lake sanctuary, a real delight.

The disturbing ambulation

Passes with no relief in sight.

Steely eyes miss Glory's beauty,

Gleeful daisy choir toss and twist.

Deflated by the procession

Evaporating with the mist.

Inevitable conclusion,

Who would voice the obvious outcome?

Avoiding the time to move on —

Neglecting Nature's wisdom.

Fingers untangle; start to drift,

Drawn apart by solemnity.

Forlorn resignation beyond hope,

Surrender a calamity.

The fog, begins to dissipate,

Shredded by love rays Heaven sent

As knuckles brush, tearful eyes lock,

Flood gates crack, begin to rent.

Timid embrace; gently savage,

On mutual tears which to relate.

Alleviation sweeps 'way despair

Forsaken souls a couple create.

Again!

Again!

Falling madly in love,

Your every first time,

Again!

Magic experience,

Ought to be repeated,

Again!

Pledging fidelity,

To each woman you meet,

Again!

Inspirational faith,

Baptized, born again,

Again!

Endure a little rain,

Hoping to just survive,

Again!

You fail your last chance,

She threatens, you pledge,

Again!

Hindsight revelation,

Finally understand,

Again!

Summer Respite

Nature's tinder box,

Parched down to the rocks.

Long awaited respite,

Misting spray starts one night.

Noticeable at first,

Only teasing the thirst,

Than the drizzle appears

As tinkling to our ears.

Heavy humidity,

Constant intensity.

Foliage now so vibrant,

Color no accident.

An absorbent sponge,

Nothing to expunge.

Condition of delight,

With no let up in sight.

Every plant vital,

Birds in full recital.

Nature filled with glee,

All creatures can see.

Joy infects each flower,

With renewed power.

Cover prolongs its stay,

Loath to venture away.

New day dawns with a break,

Lighting a distant lake.

Azure sky pure and clear,

Freshest time of the year.
